IMPROVING POOR WORK PERFORMANCE – Workshop

OBJECTIVES OF THIS WORKSHOP:

The chances are you want to improve your performance management strategy within your business. Some employees succeed with flying colours whilst others never quite reach acceptable performance standards. One of the key HR challenges that businesses face is how to manage those employees who never quite get it right!

This workshop will aim to empower your managers to gain confidence with the most effective methods of improving or removing poorly performing employees, and by doing so correctly – enhance the operational standards of your entire business. Managers will be equipped with the latest and most successful methodologies designed to manage, prevent and solve poor work performance by learning to identify and remedy the issues faced within the employment relationship, through constructive communication and sound leadership – while adhering to relevant legislation.

This workshop is aimed at Managers, Supervisors and Human Resources specialists that are tasked with managing and motivating an employee’s performance.

THE OUTLINE FOR THE WORKSHOP IS AS FOLLOWS:

  • Understand the legislation that impacts on the Employment Relationship in South Africa and your Sector.
  • Realise the importance of selecting the right person for the job.
  • Know how to distinguish between Misconduct and Incapacity.
  • Can identify and manage an employee whose work performance is not what it should be.
  • Become better leaders at the workplace.
  • Know how to identify the cause of poor work performance.
  • Know how to manage the cause of the poor work performance by adopting a corrective approach first and if that does not work how to implement a more formal punitive approach.
  • Identify when the process moves from corrective to punitive.
  • Know how to counsel an employee so that the work performance improves.
  • Take the necessary steps and follow the correct procedures when dismissing an employee whose work performance does not meet the required standards.
  • Have a working knowledge of the essential documentation that is required throughout the process.
